Oil separators require maintenance at least every 6 months, typical maintenance is undertaken by a tanker, our lower carbon methodology can avoid tonnes of carbon creation.

About

Most industrial sites across the UK and beyond have interceptors installed to protect the environment from oil pollution. To ensure they function properly it is essential they are maintained every 6 months. Unfortunately the industry standard has been to have them emptied by a tanker. This methodology is neither necessary or ensures they are working effectively, it also creates a huge amount of hazardous waste and has a large and easily avoidable carbon footprint. Our methodology is simple, we perform the essential checks required by the British Standard (BS EN 858-2) and Environmental Regulators (EA, NRW, SEPA, NIEA). In over 90% of cases this is sufficient and no further action is required. With appropriate scheduling a 2 man team can conduct maintenance of 20+ systems in a day with only a car and hand tools. Using an electric vehicle this methodology being implemented industry wide could save 1000s of tonnes of carbon creation each year. This is a service we currently undertake for Tarmac on several sites in South Wales and we would love the opportunity to explore the savings we could make Tarmac UK wide by implementing the service elsewhere.

Key Benefits
