Roots and Wings aims to maximise the potential of disadvantaged 16-24 year olds to deliver a better future for them and the UK economy by helping young people access good, practical education and support that gives them a solid foundation to enter skilled employment in the growing market of tech and ecommerce. The Roots and Wings virtual education platform will partner with ecommerce and tech professionals to develop and deliver a scheme that is current and valuable in today's market, offer students relevant mentors and develop peer accreditation. Using virtual education will ensure greater accessibility, reduce the need for a costly bricks and mortar location, enable tailoring of the curriculum to support future employment, keep costs low and engage students with different learning styles. The programme will make use of interactive whiteboards, uploading files to share, live high quality video and audio, Zoom tutorials, face to face sessions, enotes and video tutorials. The programme will also on-board industry professionals to co-create a skills framework and mentoring scheme that offers real opportunity to be successful in the digital economy, and further develop the framework into a valued system of accreditation that places industry peers as the authority on competency and credibility for the future jobs market.
