Our client is a major chemical company that is a market leader in providing innovative solutions to the consumer packaged goods industries. One area of focus is colors for consumer goods.
Colors make a great impact on the consumer’s decision making while purchasing an article – be it an expensive car, a pair of shirt or as small as a a bottle of laundry detergent or hand soap. Colors are used not only for aesthetics of the product but in many cases it delivers a functional benefit as well. In past decade consumers are getting more and more environmentally sustainable and their decisions are more influenced by products that are sustainable.
Challenge
Our client, a major chemical company are seeking synthetic colors that are completely and rapidly biodegradable, to address the sustainable future while delivering the required performance.
In the consumer packaged goods industry, some natural colors might be an alternative sustainable solution over the synthetic colors when it comes to food and beverages. However, natural colors have many shortcomings when it comes to applications such as laundry detergents and dishwashing detergents.
Therefore a sustainable alternative color is lacking to address the sustainable future of colors in this application. We are seeking for synthetic colors that are completely and rapidly biodegradable, to address the sustainable future while delivering the performance.
As a benchmark we would expect these colors to successfully pass an OECD 301 or enhanced (60 day) 301 test.
