Fujitsu is one of the largest information and communication technology companies in the world and is looking for digital solutions to shape the future of society, together with their customers.
Fujitsu in Europe has a strategy to be recognised for active collaboration with startups. In Japan Fujitsu is highly regarded and is ranked fifth as a large company that actively collaborates with startups. [Nikkei, electronic edition, June 19, 2019]
In Northern Western Europe Fujitsu’s Innovation Ecosystem framework for business and technology cooperation helps startups grow and increase engagement in fast-growing markets.
To help our customers innovate, we are strengthening our ecosystem for Multi Cloud Services with the participation of customers, global partners, technology partners, Fujitsu’s own experts and IP, startups, and academia. These trusted partner relationships bring in diverse thinking to benefit our customers delivering innovation through different skills and perspectives, complementing our own Fujitsu networks.
Fujitsu is investigating how to modernise data platforms, at the heart of this are three use cases:
- Upgrade of the current Database Product to a current version in place
- Example upgrade SQL Server 2008R2 to SQL Server 2018 in place (existing server)
- Upgrade of the current Database Product to a current version and migrate to a new hosting platform
- Example upgrade Oracle 11G to Oracle 19C and move from the current hosting server to a new hosting server
- Re-platform of the current Database Product to a new Database Product and migrate to a new hosting platform
- Example re-platform Oracle 11G on premise to PostgreSQL on AWS
Examples are not restrictive and we are interested in routes from any database to any other database. In general we are anticipating database sources to be heritage products (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, DB2 etc) with the newer products as targets (Aurora, PostgreSQL, Mongo, MySQL etc)
In addition to migrating the databases there is interest in how to assess and remediate related applications as part of the overall work. Fujitsu are focused on finding an approach to assess the size of the application remediation challenge and then delivering this.
Fujitsu are looking for solutions to these challenges with the following features:
- Automation centric
- High velocity
- High re-use
- Scalable volumes from small to enterprise wide initiatives
Application Deadline: 14th February 2021

These are global challenges and Fujitsu are willing to collaborate with both individuals/freelancers and other industry participants/universities etc. and solutions can be at any stage of development.
