Challenge
Emergency response or disaster relief is always a human focused endeavour, where the ability to understand and communicate with others is a key factor in building trust, understanding and achieving success.
Technological advances mean that cloud-based translation for real-time conversations is now a reality. This ability to select multiple languages and employ a device as a personal interpreter could provide our people on the ground with the significant advantage of being able to immediately converse with local populations.
However, frequently our client is required to go to areas that do not and will not have robust wifi or mobile communications networks that are able to support cloud-based translation services. Therefore, they are seeking on-device translation capabilities that allow verbal conversations to be translated audio-to-audio in near-real-time when there is no internet connectivity.
