Challenge
COTY, are looking for ideas to continue improving the sustainability of their products and they are looking for potential solvents for beauty care applications that meet the following criteria:
- Meets global safety requirement to be used in beauty products such as spray deodorants, fragrances, skin products and cosmetics.
- it is made of sustainable feedstocks.
- It is odourless, or it has a very low odour
- The vapour pressure is lower than 0.1 mmHg at 20°C as determined by CARB Method 310 or is a chemical “compound” with more than 12 carbon atoms, or a chemical “mixture” comprised solely of “compounds” with more than 12 carbon atoms, as verified by formulation data, and the vapor pressure and boiling point are unknown; or is a chemical “compound” with a boiling point greater than 216°C, as determined by CARB Method 310.
- Do not represent a reactivity risk to form ozone when release to the environment
- It is readily biodegradable according to OECD 301 testing.
- Does not leave a greasy feeling or appearance when applied to the skin.
