Ziomara P. Gerdtzen is a Biotechnology Engineer from University of Chile with a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. She is currently an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology and Materials. Her main research interests include mammalian cell culture, metabolic modeling and models of biological systems. She has recently taught Biology applications for Engineers and Scientists and Biology and cellular Metabolism. She has 15 years of experience leading projects in mammalian cell culture, cell engineering and mathematical modeling applied to cellular and biological systems and bioprocess optimization in her laboratory, the Mammalian Cell Culture Lab (MCCL) at CeBiB-FCFM, and in the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students in engineering programs.
