Net zero packaging made from captured CO2 colourant and Ocean Bound Plastic pollution. Packaging made from 100% pollution sources.

About

We’ve taken our Ocean Bound Plastic pollution resin and embedded it with CO2 technology to create plastic film that is 100% made from pollution sources.

Our goal is for a net zero range of packaging made from Ocean Bound Plastic pollution and captured carbon dioxide.

We have exclusive rights to the carbon capture technology for flexible film packaging and we have taken this innovation and combined it with our collected Ocean Bound Plastic resin formulation to create a new pollution-based resin to create flexible films, it is a world first!

The problem:

An estimated 8-12 million tonnes of plastic enters our oceans every year and this is expected to triple by 2040. Over 70% of that plastic enters oceans via land and over 80% of that comes from Asia.  We also emit over 36 billion metric tonnes of CO2 each year. Pollution and poverty are often inextricably linked. The poorest regions of the world lack waste management (let alone recycling) infrastructure which leads to plastic ending up in the environment.

The solution:

As Better Packaging Co. has introduced sustainable packaging solutions to a hungry market, we’ve realised that ‘zero waste’ is not longer enough. We need to do more that maintain the status quo, we need solutions that improve the state of the environment instead. We asked "What if packaging actually reduced the amount of pollution in the environment rather than making it worse?"

By bringing together a number of proprietary concepts and technologies, we’ve discovered a way to do exactly that. POLLAST!C is a world first range made from 100% recycled Ocean Bound Plastic pollution with a significantly lower CO2 footprint than the equivalent packaging made from virgin plastic.

By combining our POLLAST!C with masterbatch containing CO2, developed by combining industrial byproducts such as graphite and talc, these additives act as an inert filler that can replace a percentage of plastic resin in all plastics, both sequestering CO2 and reducing the need for resin production.

Key Benefits

A 100% pollution based packaging productCO2 utilisation which creates a pathway to net-zero. It can improve the strength of industrial plastics by up to 30% while also sequestering CO2.The CO2 masterbatch also colours the plastic film making it black, this is a benefit for customers who want a sustainable, flexible film packaging product coloured black.

Applications

Anywhere you see plastic film is an opportunity for a CO2 Ocean Bound Plastic pollution alternative. From pallet wrap, bubble wrap, bags, courier mailers, garment bags plus many more.
