We have developed an interactive hologram to bring 3D touch and tactile feedback to the virtual world. The hologram can be manipulated by touch and allows feeling (temp and touch)

About

We have developed an interactive system to bring 3D touch and tactile feedback to the virtual world. The system involves enabling 3D graphical outputs (images, videos or live graphics) from a planar display to be reflected through one or many semi-reflective screens. The light emitted from the display gives a floating 3D image perception to the observer, creating a holographic effect. With a special arrangement, it is possible to see the 3D virtual objects in day-light. A touch interface system has been developed to manipulate (e.g. pinching, zoom-in, zoom-out, rotate etc.) 3D virtual object by touching the hologram or through gestures. Further, the system allows feeling (e.g. contour, temperature etc.) the surface of 3D virtual object through touch. Key Benefits • Invention embodies novel configurations of touch and 3D gesture interactive display • The proposed systems could give the feel of temperature to heighten the experience • The system is scalable (or reduced) to be used for large-scale (and small) displays • No need of special glasses to experience 3D imaging.
