The innovation lies in the use of a swarm of drones capable of autonomous group decision-making and machine-to-machine communication to optimize mission and flight safety in the application of advanced fertilizers. Fertilizers are in the form of granules and can be applied by drones, however, they can be evolved to more accurate diameters. Even with the application by tractors, fertilizers with nanotechnology allow the application of only 25% of the conventional dose, which prevents the emission of 97.5 kg of CO2 for each ton of product used. Soil health mapping associated with variable rate application with autonomous smart drones should further reduce emissions. The use of swarms is indicated due to the high mass of fertilizers and to reduce costs and application time.
