No UV excitation needed. High catalytic activity even at low temperature. Efficient in removing pollutants. Eco-friendly & low production cost.

About

Invention Volatile organic compounds (VOC) and carbon monoxide (CO) in the air are harmful to human health. The new material is a supported metal catalyst with nanostructures that can purify air in the absence of UV illumination. The novel catalyst comprises of a metal catalyst anchored to a nanometer-sized metal oxide. The metal catalyst can be fabricated with high metal dispersion and therefore no sintering is needed. This makes the catalytic material stable and active for an extended period of time without the need of regeneration. Furthermore, regeneration can simply be achieved by simple washing and drying in an oven.   Market Opportunity Conventional photocatalysts can mineralize a lot of organic contaminants into carbon dioxide and water, and eliminate various germs. However, the catalysts have to be activated by UV illumination leading to the high power consumption and high UV lamp replacement fee. The novel catalytic material is capable of oxidizing CO, destroying VOCs and killing airborne microorganisms without the use of UV lamp irradiation. It is able to work at a wide range of temperature. The novel catalytic materials can be integrated with air-conditioning system, a disinfection device or a dehumidifier, and applied to residential, industrial or commercial establishments.   Key Benefits No UV excitation needed High catalytic activity even at low temperature Efficient in removing pollutants Eco-friendly & low production cost
