Because the ocean’s omega-3 and marine protein supply chain are under threat, AlgiSys sees an opportunity to include its sustainable ingredients in Tesco products. With average production of fish oil static over the last few years at ~125k metric tons, demand continues to grow. Global fishmeal production follows similar trends. To address this, AlgiSys uses patented technology to ferment novel strains of non-GMO EPA-rich micro algae containing protein as a replacement for fish oil and fish protein. We go to the source of where fish get their omega-3s and protein, micro algae, and eliminate the need for fish to be used as ingredients – such as for producing Scottish salmon.
AlgiSys ferments algae to make EPA omega-3 with plant protein which can be used in sustainably producing Scottish salmon. Since EPA converts into DHA in salmon (and humans), AlgiSys is a powerful 3-in-1 ingredient that imparts: EPA, DHA, and protein.
Our non-GMO products contain none of the toxins, metals, pollutants, or PCBs/dioxins found in fish-sourced fish oil. They are scalable, sustainable and cost-effectively produced, at a time when demand for omega-3s is exploding and supplies threatened.
Our EPA rich product with protein is a potential, algae-sourced replacement for both fish oil and fishmeal, the “holy grail” of aquaculture. There are multiple markets for our fish oil replacement product. Starting in aquaculture and pet food & treats, we will be expanding into cosmetics, human nutrition, pharmaceuticals, and supplements.

We are a B2B company working in multiple vertical markets. Our ingredient can be a complete non-GMO, scalable, sustainable, cost-effective replacement for fish oil and fish meal. Because EPA converts to DHA and not the reverse, our ingredient has all the health benefits of both omega 3s. Plus, our ingredient also has plant-based protein, for which demand is strong.
