MOBY is a mobile robotic technology capable of performing omnidirectional trajectories without giving up the advantages of using conventional wheels. It leverages the advantages of omnidirectional movements, specially maximum maneuverability, which reduces the cycle time, optimizes space and energy, and eases control. Moreover, it allows to interact more naturally with humans in a collaborative environment. Furthermore, the use of conventional wheels allows the omnidirectional platform to ride over any surface (even rugged outdoor terrain), have a high payload capacity, reduce vibrations, maintenance and replacement cost. The technology, which has already found a concrete application in the indoor-logistics sector as part of a commercialized AMR, is offered as a full solution (hardware and software) for any kind of mobile application in different fields. MOBY is designed to integrate customized tools to perform concrete duties. In this case, we propose a customized solution over MOBY that is capable of transporting the mail trays around the plant autonomously (interacting with workers in a non-differentiated environment), emptying the mail onto the sorting machines autonomously (with a carried tool or with the help of a fixed tool - depending on how many stations will be covered) and carrying the empty tray or setting it aside for later use.
