Using novel, wet cell battery technology developed for automotive use, the owner/carer can be alerted at the onset of an incontinence event

About

The innovation uses well established technology in a new application - warning the owner/carer/hospital or care-home staff that an incontinence event is occurring. The will help reduce stress for the owner whilst alerting the support staff to take action. The device is a Bluetooth transmitter with a range of approximately 15 metres indoors in its current form - range can be extended. The transmitter is activated when a very small amount of water or urine (about 0.1 mL) enters the wet cell battery which powers the device. Testing shows that this small amount of fluid will provide about 1,000 RF transmissions. The device transmits a unique ID number, using this, an individual in need of attention can be identified in a hospital ward setting, for instance. For those more active, a discreet warning will appear on your Bluetooth enabled smart phone, alerting you that action is required as soon as possible.
