About

Massive scaling of battery production is required for coming rechargeable battery markets. Existing lithium-ion technologies cannot meet the needs of these markets due to poor performance, safety and cost and limited resources, such as lithium and cobalt. BroadBit uses no rare or expensive materials and has the only available battery technology that is high enough performance, low enough cost and sufficient safety, durability and scalability to finally enable the electrification of transportation and the massive scaling of intermittent solar, wind and wave energy. BroadBit literally enables the coming electricity revolution. No other commercial battery technology uses sodium chloride as active material. Our advantages compared to our biggest competitors (e.g. LG, Panasonic) using the current dominant Lithium-ion technology are: 1) 50% higher energy per cost 2) 20% higher energy per weight 3) More environmentally friendly, scalable and sustainable 4) Simpler, cheaper, open air manufacturing 5) Safer production and use (non flammable, no risk of overcharging, discharge state assembly and transportation) 6) More durable (no risk of undercharging, 2x operating temperature range: -20 - +60C) 7) Long term storeable (the batteries can be kept essentially forever in inert discharge state)

Applications

Our R&D is essentially complete for our first product and we are now ready to provide our Gen 1 Hi-Efficiency (95% round trip efficiency) cobalt, nickel and rare-earth metal free battery cells to first customers. These high-performance cells outperform existing Li-ion LPF used in, for instance, electric trucks and buses, and can easily pass strict environmental and safety tests (e.g. external short circuit with no toxic gas release and no fire). We now seek funders and partners to scale our proprietary component (anode, cathode and electrolyte) production, purchase outsourced cell assembly services and IEC 62133 and UN 38.3 certify our product for international sales. We expect our next product, our Gen 1 Hi-Power (2000 W/l) Lead-Acid replacement battery for, for instance, car starter batteries, to be ready for scaling in Q3 2020 and our Hi-Energy (300 Wh/kg) Li-ion LCO replacement cells for electric cars and bikes, to be ready for scaling by year end.
