General Description

Alzheimer‚ disease is a devastating disease that progressively robs the memory and the mental abilities of the patient. New peptoids have been created, by the University of Arkansas, that prevent the aggregation of the beta amyloids, and may break up existing amyloids. These new peptoids may be developed into drugs, which could be administered to Alzheimer‚ patients to prevent further damage to their brains, and possibly even to reverse the effects of the disease.

Significance Alzheimer‚ disease (AD) is sixth leading cause of death in the United States and the leading form of dementia worldwide.
