CARBONAFT CO2 fluid extraction process is a brand new development of Supercritical CO2 fluid extraction process, specially designated for TAN reduction of bitumen and crude oil.

About

The CARBONAFT Supercritical CO2 fluid extraction begins with a pressure vessel where the CO2 is stored and compressed by a high pressure pump. Then, it is heated to the temperature needed for efficient extraction. It is then drawn to one of the extraction tanks where the carrier material is stored. The extractors are equipped with quick opening lids for easy and safe filling and unloading processes. Several extraction vessels can be combined into a functional train system so that extraction can be performed without any intervals irrespectively the intermittent operation of the extractors. After leaving the extractors, the loaded CO2 enters the separators, where a change of pressure and/or temperature creates condition for the effective separation of the extracted material from CO2. The extracted substance can then be collected at the bottom of the separators: in the last separator, the CO2 is typically expanded to a gaseous state so that any remaining compounds could be efficiently withdrawn.

Key Benefits

CARBONAFT SC CO2 extraction process is based on utilization of CO2 which is inert, not combustible, not explosive and highly available gas, subject to sufficient reduction from industrial sources and atmosphere. Final products and residues are solvent-free. The technology process is simple and is performed in several consecutive stages. CO2 is recycled at the plant, thus does not affect the environment and can be reused. These principal features of CARBONAFT SC CO2 fluid extraction process provide for low CAPEX and OPEX, very steady operation and ensure a very fast ROI.

Applications

The similar to CARBONAFT SC CO2 extraction processes are widely used in: Food industry: Extraction of hops, herbs & spices, Recovery of flavors, antioxidants, Extraction of special oils, De-oiling of press cakes. Pharmaceutical industry: Extraction of herbal medicines, Refining of pharmaceuticals, Cosmetic industry: Ingredients for cosmeceutical substancies, Fragrances. Other applications: Cleaning of cork Impregnation of wood.
