Our AI-as-a-Service (AIaaS) platform is a scalable online b2b marketplace offering access to medical imaging Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, channelling them on demand for metered consumption in a secure collaborative marketplace. We focus specifically on histopathology and radiology. This is a paradigm changing way of introducing hospitals & healthcare professionals to AI, when compared to the current deployment-heavy implementation with high commercial skills barriers to entry. Our platform makes it easy to discover and consume AI on a pay-as-you-go basis, deriving revenue from commission 3rd party developer and cloud provider charges. AI and machine learning has shown great clinical utility for medical imaging tasks, when used as a decision support tool or a stand-alone analysis tool. There are numerous indirect clinical applications such as work list prioritisation and streamlining operational efficiency. The benefits are clear and proven - however, the technical overhead associated with bringing AI tools into the clinic is a major barrier: - AI tools must be undergo rigorous evaluation to ensure clinical efficacy and to gain regulatory approval - AI tested 'in the wild' (i.e. in a real-life hospital) often performs differently to pre-clinical testing on experimental datasets; any deployment solution must monitor performance of AI tools and allow them to be updated when needed. - AI tools must also be integrated securely From the 'buyer' perspective, we enable clinicians and healthcare providers to trial, test & deploy trusted 3rd party AI algorithms for various use cases in medical imaging (from diagnosis & image analysis to workflow optimisation & triage). From the 'seller' perspective, 3rd party AI developers can upload AI algorithms to gauge interest from healthcare professionals, and importantly, to evaluate and test their algorithms online. The marketplace also integrates with existing medical imaging workflows (most PACS and pathology LIMS systems) allowing AI algorithms to be directly tested in real-time in a clinical setting. We make use of OpenAPIs, HL7/FHIR & other industry standards to ensure healthcare system interoperability.
