The e-learning between ASM and LSM platform focusing on providing relevant learning opportunities and education skills gaps in mining Industry.

About

Access to educational materials and chances for lifelong learning is still a barrier in many developing nations with abundant natural resources. Due to financial constraints and physical isolation, a sizable portion of the African population is unable to take advantage of the current educational opportunities. The unwillingness to seek education disproportionately affects marginalized populations, including women and girls, as well as residents in more isolated and rural locations. This results in a shortage of necessary skills and makes it harder to get employment in the mining communities nearby. The ASM and LSM learning platform want to change this concern by reaching young people through innovative e-learning offerings. The educational content is developed locally and is designed to reduce skills gaps and improve employability for the jobs of the future.

Key Benefits

This platform offers a digital learning experience and a platform that is 100% free. There are no hidden fees for taking our courses and earning certificates, no partner costs or using our Learning Management System (LMS) to upload, create and publish courses. This is because all costs are borne by different mining stakeholders as a community initiative to improve the mining industry in Tanzania. Since this platform is about flexible learning options, the courses cover a wide range of topics: geology, mining and mineral processing techniques, environmental management, etc., all available to users/beneficiaries whenever and wherever they want. The platform allows beneficiaries to learn using laptops or via a mobile app. Easy implementation of digital learning provides a practical, scalable and sustainable way to implement digital learning through our open source LMS Moodle Workplace, which offers many benefits to beneficiaries. This platform is a gender equal and inclusive e-learning platform for women, girls and other marginalized groups who often face significant barriers to accessing quality education, hindering their personal development, economic independence and political participation.
