A containment weir to reduce the pollution from CSO overflows that are subject to erroneous spills due to overload and blockages in order to prevent aquatic pollution

About

A retrofit containment weir / half valve that can be installed to reduce the levels of pollution by effectively raising the spill point on the CSO overflow. The system is solar powered and can operate under the control of local network sensors.

Key Benefits

Can help to reduce the incidents of spills of plastics and sewage which can include pathogens such as SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) into waterways and oceans. Installed at a "hot spot" it can help to protect bathing water quality in line with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive and the European Bathing Water Directive.

Applications

On existing CSO overflows. The weir / valve can when closed buy time deal with a blockage or overload that would ordinarily lead to the spill of sewage into a waterway. This is now of additional concern due to the persistence of Covid-19 in wastewater for up to 4-days.
