Interferometric reflectance imaging sensor (iRiS) detects whole pathogens directly on a compact devices with excellent sensitivity for bacteria (<10CFU/ml) and virus (<50PFU/ml).

About

iRiS Kinetics is the newest technology in label-free sensing. Interferometric Reflectance Imaging Sensor (IRIS) technology defies the conventional wisdom that calls for enhancing the signal through complex optical resonances. Instead, we exploit light interference from an optically transparent thin film—the same phenomenon that gives rainbow colors to a soap film when illuminated by white light — in a disposable microfluidic cartridge. Applications of IRIS are broad. In ensemble detections modality, applications include label-free affinity characterization of nucleic acids, proteins, peptides, and small molecular weight analytes including food-borne toxins. In single-particle detection modality for biomarker analysis (or digital detection), IRIS provides resolution and sensitivity beyond the reach of ensemble measurements. IRIS provides excellent sensitivity in bacteria detection (<10CFU/ml) and virus detection (<50PFU/ml) and demonstrated to exceed the sensitivity of reaction limits through dynamic tracking of single binding events.
