Invention This novel drug testing technique relies on the newly invented microfluidic-chip based nano-HPLC coupled to tandem mass spectrometry (nano-HPLC-Chip-MS/MS) to detect drug residues in hairs. This new technique can simultaneously measure abused drugs and metabolites.   Market Opportunity In contrast to most of the specimens including urine, blood, sweat and saliva, hair gives a longer detection window (more than 1 year if the hair is longer than 12 cm), which enables retrospective investigation of the past drug consumption. When compared with other hair-based drug testing method, this new technology requires less sample (only 5 to 10 pieces of hair), yielding faster results with lower cost. A number of community organizations and schools have already used this new hair-based drug test to facilitate implementation of education and rehabilitation.
