Ethylene obtained by electrolysis of CO2 (e-ethylene) has a far smaller CO2 footprint than production of ethylene from fossil sources. It is actually an effective CO2 sink, as the final products made of ethylene a very long lived.

Applications

E-ethylene is chemically indistinguishable from fossil ethylene. It can therefore replace, entirely or in any proportion, fossil ethylene as feedstock of all existing chemical plants, without requiring any changes to the processes.
