The proposed product is an in-flue heat exchanger that is able to provide both an electrical and hot water output, suitable for use in commercial or industrial boilers and furnaces

About

Established in 2010, Peace Marsh are an innovative energy consultancy that specialise in the integration of clean and renewable technologies into its commercial and industrial clients sites and processes. The company's aim is to reduce the running costs and environmental impact of its customers businesses, and to provide clients with their own on-site power generation, utilising the resources available to them. The proposed solutions could be as simple as installing Solar PV, a heat pump, a biomass boiler, or a wind turbine. Alternatively we consider voltage optimisation, heat recovery, or anaerobic digestion, and sometimes more unusual technologies, such as hydro, tidal stream, wave, pressure differential turbines, or Organic Rankin Cycle (ORC) generators. Quite often we recommend bespoke solutions solutions, that includes a combination of technologies, which fit with the clients resources and their processes, whiles still providing a good return on investment.

Peace Marsh is run by two principle partners, Steven Peace and Andrew McBean, but draws upon a large network of specialist suppliers, design and installation contractors. Over the years, the business has also built up good relationships with several academic institutions, who are able to support the company's R&D activities.

Key Benefits

The proposed heat exchange device would provide the following benefits:

  • Both a usable electrical and hot water output.
  • Compact all-in-one solution.
  • Could be easily retrofitted to existing flue runs.
  • Utilises a combination of existing and well proven technologies.
  • Will provide heat and power output whenever the host plant is running.
  • The hot water output could be used as an economiser when attached to steam raising plant.
  • With higher temperature flue gases, the hot water output could be used to run an ORC generator, so providing more electrical power output.
  • Both the water temperature and the electrical output increase with flue gas temperature.
  • Easy to install.
  • A good return on investment

Applications

The device would be suitable for all larger commercial and industrial boiler, incinerator, furnace or heat processing flues. These would include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Large hospital boiler plant.
  • Waste incinerators.
  • Cement and asphalt plants.
  • Brick, block, glass and ceramic manufacturing plants.
  • Chemical and oil refining plants.
  • Metal and rubber manufacturing and processing plants.
  • Bakeries and food processing plants.
  • District heating plants.
  • Larger commercial building boiler plant
