About the innovation Epidemiology of Obesity Study Information from 6,000 obese participants from the Netherlands was gathered over a four-year period with a goal of aiding researchers in their pursuit of causes and treatments for obesity and metabolic disease. Information ranging from health and depression questionnaires to heart and brain MRIs has been collected from 6,000 participants with a BMI = 27 kg/m2 or higher and 1,000 participants with a BMI <27 kg/m2. Endpoints include diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, COPD, asthma, chronic kidney disease, osteoarthritis and all-cause mortality.  Analyses were conducted on blood, serum and urine and plasma, serum, DNA, RNA have been saved for future studies Key benefits  Information gathered includes 10 questionnaires, > 6,000 participants.
