Using current technologies of Fast Charging DC, the cables are too heavy, less flexible (due to the increase in cross section required to deliver high currents) and require liquid cooling for currents of 400A and higher. Our technology enables us to offer the most efficient DC cable. The maximum current allowed through a conductor depends on its cross section. The larger the cross section the higher is the current. Our technology replaces each conductor with several smaller size conductors, each has better cable design. Dividing a phase conductor by a factor of N yields a higher overall conductor perimeter, which translates into better heat dissipation, higher current carrying capacity, and better cable flexibility. The improvement is in the order of square root of N. Another aspect is the cooling of the plug. The current methods rely on liquid cooling for currents of 400A and higher. This imply that the cable needs to include pipes for the liquid, which make the cable heavier, less flexible and more costly (initial cost and maintenance cost). The cooling is also needed to be delivered to the plug, in order to cool it. ELMF applies air cooling to the plug by integrating small vents into the plug. The power to the vents is supplied by adding 2 small DC conductors into the cable. Using our proprietary technology, our cables can deliver DC current of 400A and higher, with peak power of 500A with no liquid colling, makes it the lightest, most flexible and less expensive cable in the market.
