An air quality management solution on a global scale that uses AI to analyze and interpret data from diverse sources including satellites, public stations, and traffic cameras.

About

We monitor air quality  globally, generating  novel and actionable  insights  from satellite and IoT  using  AI  for customers across healthcare, insurances, urban traffic management, navigation and logistics.  We provide an air quality monitoring and management solution with high granularity spatial and temporal data resolution (street-level, near-real-time) on a global basis. Our proprietary monitoring devices offer high-precision data acquisition for the fraction of the price of conventional devices. We fuse this data with a range of other datasets from diverse sources including satellites, public stations, traffic cameras and healthcare providers. This data is processed, analyzed, and visualized within our cloud-based platform. Using AI we generate additional insights that help address a lack of data for applications including infrastructure planning, exposure risk profiling and pollution source mapping.

Key Benefits

Our offering couples generating and providing insightful and interpretable information regarding a city’s or municipality’s air quality (AQ) at a fraction of the cost of current air monitoring solution. Our USP is the leveraging of AQ data with other sources such as weather, climate, traffic, health and satellite data, to provide insights on the source of air pollution but also on the exposure of inhabitants to it. Additionally, we use AI to create predictions on the exposure levels on an hourly basis at street-level granularity.

Applications

Our primary focus lies in providing governments with air quality insights on a municipality level. Until today we have installed our devices in more than 20 cities in the DACH region and continue to develop our business there. In the mid-term future we will expand to EU-wide municipalities and to the MENA region. By providing municipalities with air quality data, we ensure that traffic management measures are based on an extensive and factual basis and support them in city planning and development that is centered around clean air. Secondary, we have expand into the Smart Health market by coupling air quality data with population data, health indicators, medical purchases relevant for diabetes and asthma on a postal code scale. This allows us to determine and to forecast air pollution exposure levels to all citizens. This allows risk groups to plan their mobility in order to avoid high exposure levels, thereby lessening health-related consequences such as asthma attacks. Additionally we calculated exposure risks for myriad of POIs: clinics, schools, playgrounds as input for urban health planners. Thirdly, together with reinsurer/MunichRE we have developed a green impact bond, that allows cities to invest in air improving projects without the downside risk of spending the money upfront. Instead, investors finance the projects and the municipality repays the investment only if the actual impact goals are met. This financing measure has the potential to accelerate the efforts in providing clean air and sustainable cities for everyone. Fourthly, we are deploying our IoT devices at Ports and are developing a hybrid monitoring approach comprising satellite, climatic and land-based data. Thereby, we make carrier- and ship-level emissions tracking a reality and leverage this chance to set an industry standard.
