About

Background: A new compact and robust spectrometer design that can be used to detect weak spatially incoherent signals has been developed. The design eliminates the ambiguity between incident angle and wavelength in a holographic spectrometer, and does so with a limited number of components. Optimal functionality is realized under spatially incoherent light illumination which is advantageous in biological and environmental sensing applications. This technology is suited for detecting weak spatially incoherent signals in biological and environmental sensing applications. Advantages of the technology include improved spectrometer sensitivity, compact size, less expensive, and ease of use.
