About

DESCRIPTION: A peptide sequence has been isolated from a gut associated lymphoid tissue cDNA expression library which upregulates the expression and secretion of immunoglobulin alpha (IgA), the predominant antibody type in mucosal secretions, tears, saliva and the upper respiratory tract. The factor is novel, is unrelated to any molecule in the database (EST tagged sequences are homologous but function is unknown) and the material may have great impact as an adjuvant for oral or nasal vaccines. POTENTIAL AREAS OF APPLICATIONS:  Enhancement of efficacy of oral and nasal vaccines. MAIN ADVANTAGES OF INVENTION: Minimal amount of toxicity; High degree of specificity; High levels of efficiency.
