Restores gut homeostasis in models of ulcerative colitis

About

Studies have shown that the interaction between commensal bacteria and gut dendritic cells (DCs) are key to maintaining a healthy gut. An imbalance in these interactions can result in disease such as Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Using knowledge of the gut microbiome and DC biology, Prof Stella Knight and colleagues have developed a novel, orally available, peptide-based therapy for IBD, which restores gut homeostasis in models of ulcerative colitis. We have composition of matter and method of use patents and is now looking for co-development or licensing partners.
