The separate conjugation mechanisms enable independent control over the release kinetics and dose of each growth factor and facilitate accelerated vascularization and osteogenesis.

About

Description: The technology augments synthetic bone graft substitutes by recruiting native cells and growth factors to aid in healing processes (i.e. bone regeneration in large defects).  The technology deploys sequential and sustained release of multiple growth factors using separate covalent and non-covalent conjugation mechanisms to Hydroxyapatite and collagen scaffolds.  The separate conjugation mechanisms enable independent control over the release kinetics and dose of each growth factor and facilitate accelerated vascularization and osteogenesis while maintaining mechanical properties suitable for surgical handling, fixation, and osteogenic load bearing during healing.
