The Open University is the largest online educator in the UK, with a social mission of equity and sustainability at heart. Our innovation aligns our core strength with Twinings'.

About

In these frenetic times, it is important to indulge in life’s little luxuries with family and friends. Even better if it’s sustainable. Our new ways of working risks diminishing communities, built on shared experiences, values and exploration of cultures. Historically, tea was the nation’s beverage of choice. In recent times, other beverages have taken significant market share. Now is the time a new generation rediscover tea as a sustainable, healthy and affordable drink they can consume in private and with others. The Open University (OU) is an expert in creating sustainable communities through shared educational experiences. We would work with Twinings to identify new ideas for sip-sized education covering different aspects of tea consumption, history and sustainability to create a personal bond between consumers and the people making their tea. These courses would be hosted on our free learning platform that attracted over 13 million global visitors this year alone. These tea aficionados would provide Twinings with a motivated and enthusiastic cohort of consumers that would learn and then evangelise to others the benefits of tea and its sustainable features. We could also co-create mutually beneficial case studies on how tea can remain an important part of our heritage-informed future.
