Red, Green, Blue, Infrared and Ultraviolet LEDs are multiplexed to provide a light source for fluorescence and white light endoscopy using patented solid light pipe technology.

About

Cymtec endoscopic LED light sources significantly improve on conventional Xenon bulb technology. The new light source comprises high brightness Red (R) Green (G) and Blue (B)LEDs, multiplexed to produce high power white light for excellent colour versatility. The end product offers a longer lifetime with lower maintenance needs and lower running costs when compared to traditional bulb technology, this is due to the high efficiency of the system. Additional LEDs (ultraviolet UV / infrared IR) can be included into the design for the excitation of chemical markers that help the surgeon identify diseased tissue. The Cymtec endoscopic light source allows the surgeon to colour balance during surgery with simple controls. Cymtec multiplexers combine multiple wavelengths from UV to IR in one system in an innovative and compact format. One Cymtec LED multiplexer provides an efficient and commercial replacement for bulb technology. The output is fully homogenised and collimated with a smaller emission area than is typically achieved with LEDs, this means a significant reduction in losses when coupling to the light guide. Two of our endoscopic light sources, RGB+IR and RGB+UV, are currently undergoing human clinical trials in order to obtain the relevant regulatory approvals.

Key Benefits
