Mach9 Robotics is a remote sensing startup creating Google Maps for subsurface utilities.

About

Mach9 Robotics is developing integrated hardware and software to address these challenges. We are producing turnkey, mobile mapping systems, based primarily on ground penetrating radar (GPR), that simplify the acquisition and analysis of subsurface information. Our first product, M1, is a AI-powered visualization tool compatible with a variety of GPR systems that: -Provides a uniform, simple interface to guide technicians in acquiring subsurface data using more common single-channel GPR systems. -Produces client-ready drawings of utilities using a proprietary automatic detection algorithm. Our second product, M2, is a mobile mapping system, which will: -Capture dense surface and subsurface data at posted road speeds. -Acquire over 360 miles of subsurface data in a day, cutting survey time down from months to days. -Speed up analysis of this more complex data by 100x over leading industry practices. -Export results directly to CAD, BIM, and GIS deliverables. We are making subsurface data acquisition as simple as driving a car through a city. Automating data analysis will mean that experts just need to verify results and solve the hardest analysis problems. That’s what we call Mach9 fast.

Key Benefits

Our products help our clients get results quickly, accurately, and at city scale. We're producing a mapping platform that utility companies can use to acquire critical information about their own assets, reducing the need to contract out surveying and lose ownership of important data. Mach9 Robotics is: -Producing an AI system that gives our users the power of an expert geophysicist at their fingertips. Typically it takes months to years to train someone how to use this technology. Mach9 is making large-scale subsurface mapping as simple as driving through a city. -Leveraging the power of many sensors to find problems in subsurface infrastructure before the next big failure. Just as humans have many senses, our mapping platforms use the best sensors available to acquire rich and pertinent information about infrastructure health. -Detecting leaks in the real world. Water utility companies are struggling to manage leaks due to an information gap, the lack of reporting, and the expense of acquiring and analyzing data. Our software detects the visual, thermal, and electromagnetic effects of water leaks, which helps our clients make important decisions about utility maintenance. -Characterizing utilities at scale. In addition to positioning utilities, Mach9 Robotics is focused on providing information about the condition of subsurface assets, helping partner companies identify which utilities actually need to be upgraded and when. -Producing deliverables that uphold the best industry standards (ACSE 38-02 in the US and PAS128 in the UK). We export our results to your favorite CAD, GIS, or BIM software.

Applications

Mach9 Robotics integrated hardware and intelligent mapping software is relevant to the following applications: -Survey-grade accurate mapping of utility systems needed to make critical maintenance decisions. How can we maintain a pipeline before even knowing where it is? -Precise leak detection and identification. -Void and sinkhole identification. -Infrastructure characterization and assessing infrastructure health to see if your utilities need a band-aid or to be overhauled. -Obtaining critical information for utility pipeline design projects. -In field damage prevention. With accurate maps of subsurface utilities available during excavation, you reduce the risk of utilities strikes.
