About

An Essential Molecule for Long-term Maintenance of Drosophila Cells in a Chemically-defined Medium A chemically defined medium for both Cl.8 cells and the industrially relevant cell line Drosophila S2 that has long-term potential to maintain cell viability and growth over multiple passages. These new media “ZB” were compared to a known ZO medium. C1.8 cells were seeded at high confluency in unfortified ZO medium and ZB-fortified media. Upon reaching confluency, cells were passaged 1:2 retaining half of the spent media. After 3 passages, unsupplemented C1.8 cells’ proliferation rates significantly decreased compared to the ZB-fortified media.
