Stanford Reference: 14-081 Abstract Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a common gram-negative bacteria, is recognized for its advanced antibiotic resistance mechanism. The virulence of pseudomonas aeruginosa is affected by its ability to form biofilms. A collaboration of researchers from Stanford University and University of Washington have discovered that Pf-family bacteriophage promote Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm formation. The preliminary data suggests that immunizations and monoclonal antibodies directed against Pf-family bacteriophage may prevent and treat pseudomonas aeruginosa infections.
