Allow anyone who must sit for long periods to move their legs, thus increasing blood flow in the lower extremities, which can positively affect Deep Vein Thrombosis, reduce fatigue

About

moveSIT is a chair with a seat that can move. The seat is split into two equal halves, front to back, on the bottom.  Each half of the seat bottom can move separately, yet line up when they are at the same height.  A locking pin on the side of the seat locks the seat bottom for stability, when a person sits on, or stands from the seat.  Once individuals sit on the moveSIT seat, the locking pin can be disengaged, allowing the individuals to move their legs up and down, while still having support from the seat bottom. As individuals move their heels alternatively up and down, the left and right seat halves move up and down.  The mechanism is similar to an elliptical trainer, so that, when one leg is up, the other is down. The generic benefit is to allow the individual the ability to move their legs during seating.  This flexes the muscles, increasing blood flow, enhancing muscle tone, reducing fatigue and enhancing comfort. The specific value can be improved health of patients with Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT); or patients that are unable to walk. Other value can be for office workers’ improved productivity, since the seat can allow the worker to move, while seated for a long period. Similarly, on long airplane rides, such a seat can enhance the health of fliers who might be susceptible to DVT; or who may be susceptible to cramping due to long periods of inactive seating.  Use of the moveSIT seat can also enhance comfort of those who do not otherwise have a physical affliction, while on long flights.
