Our novel adsorbent developed at Massey University, combined with our engineering pressure swing adsorption process captures CO2. Deployed at pilot scale with industrial emitters.
About
Captivate Technology is a CO2 capture company. The team has developed a porous, solid-
state material that is a sponge for CO2. This novel metal-organic framework (MOF) has the
potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by selectively sieving CO2 from
emissions. The process is continuous and recyclable, generating a steady stream of gaseous
CO2 to be stored or used. Captivate is rapidly moving to demonstration scale in collaboration
with industrial partners and end-users. We are agnostic on the use of CO2 and understand that
a global market for CO2 is rapidly evolving, within which underground storage is a viable
solution in certain jurisdictions, whilst in others there is a market for utilisation of CO2 in for
example eFuels. We are actively working with partners on the end use of the CO2 .
Key Benefits
The carbon capture solutions we are developing feature our patented MUF-16 adsorbent
which will interface with an array of downstream storage options or utilization technologies.
The use of MUF-16 solves the economic challenge inhibiting the take up of CCUS. It enables a
low cost and low energy solution for a wide variety of emission sources and quantities, today.
Applications
The solution we have developed is suitable for industrial, biogas, geothermal, building and
transportation emissions; any emissions stream that has a CO2 component greater than 3%. It
can be used at existing facilities, buildings or modes of transportation at any scale. It is ideal for
footprint-constrained and brownfield sites.
