The aim is to reduce waste due to poor adherence; this is a $300billlion global problem. My Health Tags helps prevent people forgetting and keeps the healthcare network informed.

About

Poor medicine adherence is a significant problem for the healthcare industry worldwide. Non-adherence costs global healthcare providers up to $300bn every year in additional healthcare provision. At least half of the problem is attributed to patients purely forgetting to take their prescription. For elderly patients who want help to remember to take their medicine and for those who want to monitor and improve adherence in the elderly, we have an ideal solution. My Health Tags is an "Internet of Things' development to help improve medicine adherence. A smart tag attaches to medicine packaging to provide clear notifications of when that medicine needs to be taken. The system also includes a reminder unit, featuring a larger display to remind across a number of tagged medicines used by a single patient. The tag and reminder products in combination help eliminate opportunities of missing scheduled medication. Once a medicine has been successfully taken, the tag shares that information securely to the cloud, immediately updating their healthcare network of doctors, administrators, clinicians and potentially family or other carers. The system provides overview tracking for hundreds of patients' adherence within a healthcare network, highlighting those patients of concern. This allows for fast intervention when, for example, two consecutive medications have been missed.   The tag also contains sensors for temperature, movement and light level and this gives the clinician, doctor or administrator richer data to more deeply analyse patients’ usage of medicines. They can also help check that medication is kept within a specified temperature range (cold-chain monitoring). My Health Tags received £1 million in funding to develop the product and conduct clinical studies, which have recently started. We are now reaching out to industry partners to help us bring the technology to market.
