The issue of air quality is barely out of the news. In January 2016, the WHO stated that air pollution had become a global "public health emergency". Historically, chronic low level exposure to poor air quality has been ignored because of the inability to interpret the data meaningfully for users. Hence, the current generation of AQM devices are designed to monitor (and alarm!) only for acute levels of air pollutants. This is despite clear evidence of poor air quality in homes, workplaces or even vehicles (carbon monoxide, for example, may exceed WHO guideline thresholds in as many as 50% of cases). Furthermore, no account is taken of the individual’s 'personal' health characteristics or even the user's activity or context while being monitored. The result is a significant disconnect between the deep public concern for poor air quality – and the availability of intelligent, appealing solutions to guide users in optimising air quality and wellness in their lives. Through exclusive and patented functionality, Zonegard is uniquely placed to lead a new generation of intelligent, personalised AQM markets for a multitude of applications.
