About

• PET bottles are segregated from other recyclable plastics such as PVC and HDPE, as these reclaimed material (PET flakes) is most valuable in its pure form. • Lots of bales of recycled bottles are sorted manually or automatically on the basis of colour and any foreign material is removed or non-PET lids and bases. • The plastic flakes are washed in a sterilizing bath, after which the clean containers are dried and crushed into tiny flakes and washed again to ensure the purest possible final product. These flakes are the raw material for new products. • The light coloured flakes are bleached for yarn of light shade dyes and flakes from darker bottles are used for yarn that will be dyed of dark shade. The flakes are melted in a hopper and forced through spinnerets to produce fibers.
