Photofolia technology measures colour with a phone camera to give accurate, low cost readings of leaf chlorophyll and other pigmentation relevant to plant health and disease.

About

Photofolia offers low cost, convenient and accurate image based measurement of leaf chlorophyll levels with accuracy comparative to commercial SPAD meters, for application to plant health and nutrition, especially fertiliser application. The patented technology can be used for plant colour and spectral measurement in a wide range of applications (e.g. fruit ripeness or discoloration), including ground-truthing of remote sensing images.

Key Benefits

By estimating spectral signals in ordinary phone/tablet camera images we offer a low-cost and convenient alternative to expensive bespoke technologies such as commercial colorimeters and SPAD chlorophyll meters. Photofolia uses proprietary camera calibration and cloud-based data processing There is potential for bring smart-agriculture to small scale business and middle income countries, to inform fertiliser application and agrochemical treatment with major sustainability and efficiency benefits.

Applications

Wherever chlorophyll measurement is required, for example now using a SPAD chlorophyll meter. Broad potential for leaf and fruit colour measurement in diverse applications. e.g. fruit ripeness and discoloration, potato greening.
