Eliminates the need for manual processing. Aligns point clouds with rotational differences of up to 30-40 degrees where current technologies are limited to a maximum of 10 degrees

About

Automated Point Cloud Registration This technology provides an automated technique for coarse alignment of two or more 3D point clouds, which have rotational differences of up to 30-40 degrees. Currently coarse registration is a manual step within 3D image manipulation software. Users must manually bring point cloud image captures into rough alignment before methods such as the ICP algorithm can be applied as an automatic fine registration step. The technique will eliminate the need for manual processing and reduce image manipulation time significantly.   Applications This registration technique can be utilised in 3D image manipulation software for the following applications: Product design and reverse engineering Rapid prototyping Architecture   USPs Eliminates the need for manual processing.
