An app that uses AI to detect online risk and changes to wellbeing, offering in the moment advice and guidance and context-specific coping tools

About

Anxiety, stress, low self-esteem and demotivation are now commonplace and are a huge contributor to employee absences, poor performance and toxic company culture. The SafeToNet app has been designed to detect at the earliest stage, patterns of online risks, dark thoughts and decreased online wellbeing. It can be used in the family environment or easily adapted for the corporate environment. SafeToNet is a multi-language award winning application for mobile devices – both iOS and Android. It installs an intelligent keyboard that uses both AI and contextualisation to interpret sentiment in real-time as the user is typing. It works in UK English, German, Spanish and Catalan, with US English expected in Q1 2020. It is looking for risks such as cyber-bullying, sexting, abuse, aggression, along with dark thoughts. The dark thoughts relate to negative emotions such as anxiety, fear or depressive symptoms. The keyboard will communicate with the user, offering curated guidance and support depending on the content detected. Alongside the intelligent keyboard are wellbeing features that allows users to proactively identify and select their mood by way of a dynamic avatar that can be adjusted to diagnose and record how the user is feeling, their emotion. The SafeToNet ‘Emotions Diary’ enables users to write down their daily thoughts and feelings, facilitating healthy coping methods and self-clarity. Users also have access to a selection of curated mindfulness practices (audio and written) and guided breathing exercises. These features coupled with comprehensive advice and guidance resources equip both adults and children with the tools they need to self-manage and maintain their own personal wellness. Core to SafeToNet’s values is the fundamental respect for the user’s privacy so the actual content of messages will never be shared. Instead both the user and the parent/admin see a Safety/Wellbeing Indicator in the form of a dynamic circle on their profile. There are also insights that will show both “in the moment” and over time trends for online risk or prolonged periods of declining wellbeing. This will allow early intervention and prevention of a more serious problem by helping parents and employers to detect the signs sooner. Furthermore SafeToNet is a low cost scalable solution. It requires minimal set-up admin by either the corporate or the consumer.

Applications

SafeToNet is a B2B(2C). Our solution can be offered in the workplace as a family health and wellbeing benefit allowing employees the peace of mind that early detection of mental health issues relating from online risks will be flagged eg. Anxiety, low self-esteem. Using the keyboard that works across every app installed, as the data source. The wellbeing features and the keyboard can also be used by the parents along with the wellbeing breathing and audio exercises. SafeToNet is applicable to the consumer market for Bupa direct customers. It is a low-cost value add that will help detect risks and wellbeing issues as mentioned above. Another application for our service is the extremely valuable data that we gather. Data that shows trends in abuse/aggression along with themes of dark thoughts. For Bupa we could benchmark and track improvement trends for corporates and general consumers. We could show spikes by location/date/age/time of day…. We could demonstrate improved absenteeism via app usage which would validate this collaboration.
