Seawind technology is the teetering hinge that allows to de-couple the rotor from the shaft enabling simpler wind turbine control (no active blade pitching system) and lower fatigue compared to the conventional 3-bladed technology. The result is translated into not only lower Capex and Opex but also into electricity prices that can out-place fossil and do not require any subsidies from Governments.

About

Seawind has developed an offshore wind energy system (wind turbine and foundation) and a procedure to install the system economically offshore. Seawind assembles those systems not at sea as it is done today with the use of expensive crane vessels or jackups. The Seawind systems are assembled at a pier or at a dry dock and brought to the installation site completely assembled. In the case of floating systems, installation means simply anchoring. In the case of bottom fixed systems, installation means lowering the complete system to the seabed and actuate suction buckets. The time of installation is drastically reduced, complete systems can be stored in sheltered waters for installation during calm weather windows. The overall time for the realization of a complete offshore wind farm (500+ MW) goes down to less than one year. Foundations are made of UHPC, the lifetime of the wind farm is 50+ years, hence the system can run for many years at marginal costs, like large hydropower plants.
