A low-temperature, solution process has been developed to conformally coat the base structures with thin ceramic films. Durable, adherent, and fully-functional films with a wide ranges of thicknesses can be deposited on various substrates including flexible and hard polymers, metals, glasses, and ceramics. The microstructures of the coating, as well as its organization into the hybrid structures, are controllable by process conditions. This control permits multi-functionality and responsiveness to a series of external stimuli.

We are trying to solve the contamination and cleaning issues by applying a durable and transparent surface coating with very effective functional ceramic nanostructures. It will naturally protect the open and hard-to-approach surfaces from contamination and surface adhered microorganisms without a need for any active intervention for the cleaning. The way this ceramic layer is generated on the surface of any base materials requires very low carbon footprint due to the adoption of soft chemistry while current technologies to produce ceramic films require high temperature, high power to form crystalline ceramic films. Further, we utilize a very affordable process which significantly lowers the capital investment as it requires no vacuum, no high-power equipment.
