About
Our company SciBase has developed the only FDA system for the detection of melanoma which has now been used successfully on more than 100,000 patients. Now we have taken that technology and applied it to address barrier-related atopic disorders such as Atopic Dermatitis by creating a hand-held 'Pen' system that can measures the integrity of the skin barrier. The device is based on a custom Application specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) for impedance measurement, our proprietary electrode design and a neural network-based model to interpret signal the measurements and calculate a clinical EIS Barrier score as a result. Can be used stand alone or connected to a smartphone. Validated versus Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and biomarkers in a new publication (awaiting acceptance) with our scientific partners SIAF in Davos, Switzerland. This device opens up many possible uses in the prediction, detection, management and followup of atopic diseases such as atopic dermatitis, food allergies and asthma.
