Rewritable devices which can operate and save information with a very high contrast for long time without any driving scheme, conductive layers or semiconductor layers.

About

Compared with the present bistable liquid crystal display and conventional optical writing technology, the newly invented optical rewritable technology offers a new class of rewritable devices, which can operate and save information with a very high contrast for long time without any driving scheme, conductive layers or semiconductor layers. We have implemented a prototype of light printer for ORW e-paper with optimal configurations and enabled a detailed description on the device construction, experiment process, components optimizations, and software data analysis. Marketing Opportunity The applications of the new optically rewritable (ORW) liquid crystal displays (e-paper) based on photoaligning are light printable rewritable paper, labels and plastic card displays, as well as rewritable paper for security applications. The technology can also be applied in displays for security cards such as credit cards, Octopus cards or ID cards.

Key Benefits
