A new stimulation paradigm including novel waveforms and targets

About

Track Code CWRU002 Abstract Electrical stimulation applied to the brain, also known as deep brain stimulation or DBS, is a promising method for the therapeutic control of neurological disorders including epilepsy and Parkinson's Disease. The subject technology is a new stimulation paradigm, including novel waveforms and targets. Specifically, optimal parameters of electrical stimulation applied to the hippocampal commisural fibers have been identified. Early animal experiments indicate that this novel paradigm may be effective in preventing the generation and propagation of epileptic seizures. The development of this technology was funded in part by the Coulter-Case Translational Research Partnership.
