Moxie Energy is looking to develop a virtual power plant, utilising Vehicle-to-Grid technology, to deliver ancillary services for transmission system operators across the UK.

About

Moxie Energy is looking to develop a “virtual” power plant (VPP), utilising Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology. Recognising that private electric vehicles (EVs) are utilised for only 2.6% of their lifetime, V2G could deliver ancillary services for transmission system operators (TSOs) while improving EV battery life. Idle battery capacity, when connected to the grid, can also address the significant energy storage requirement needed for a renewable energy economy. The technology is proven; however, governing policies within councils and TSOs prevent the solution from advancing at scale.
